Terms of Service

The service

Column Press is currently a pre-launch registration site for a forthcoming personalized print magazine. The service allows writers to create public profiles and readers to register their interest. No articles are being submitted or published, no subscriptions are being sold, and no payments are being collected or made.

Accounts

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By registering, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account and to keep it current. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. Notify us at the address below if you become aware of any unauthorized access.

You may not create more than one account.

Writer profiles

By completing writer onboarding, you create a public profile at columnpress.com/writers/[your-slug]. The following information is displayed publicly: your display name, biography, profile photo (if provided), and declared writing categories.

Your slug is permanent. It is the identifier in your public URL and, when the platform launches, will be encoded in QR codes printed in the physical magazine. Choose carefully — changes require contacting us directly and cannot be made once articles go to print.

Your writer profile does not constitute an offer of publication, a submission agreement, or any commitment to include your work in any edition. Those terms will be provided separately when submissions open.

Reader accounts

Reader accounts created at this stage are expressions of interest only. Creating a reader account does not guarantee a subscription, set a price, or create any obligation on the part of Column Press to deliver a product. Subscription details will be communicated when available.

Prohibited conduct

• Use the service for any unlawful purpose
• Provide false or misleading information in your account or profile
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the service or to other users' accounts
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the service
• Scrape or extract data from the service without our express written permission

Intellectual property

The Column Press name, logo, and site design are the property of Column Press. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use them without our permission.

Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is.” Column Press makes no warranties regarding its availability, reliability, or fitness for any particular purpose. The platform is in pre-launch; features may change, be delayed, or be removed.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Column Press shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use the service. Our total liability for any claim arising under these Terms shall not exceed $100.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the service shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Connecticut.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date when we do. For material changes, we will notify account holders by email before they take effect. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at our discretion, including for violation of these Terms. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at the address below.
